Mid-year Application

NEW! The My School DC mid-year application is the application for students in grades PK3 to 12 who move into the District or who seek to transfer from their current school to another DC public school (DCPS or charter). The application is used to apply to all participating schools, including the student’s in-boundary DCPS school. The mid-year application period extends from October 6 through March 26 during any given school year. In prior years, mid-year applicants would directly apply or enroll at (in the case of their K-12 in-boundary DCPS school) a school. Beginning in school year 2017-18, mid-year applicants must complete a My School DC mid-year application in order to enter or transfer schools during the school year.

 

The mid-year application is ONLY for the 2017-18 school year already underway. For the 2018-19 school year, please apply beginning on December 11, 2017 when the new lottery application launches!

 

For the 2017-18 school year, the mid-year application period extends from October 6, 2017 through March 26, 2018. Any student new to DC or seeking a transfer must complete a mid-year application by calling the My School DC Hotline at (202) 888-6336 between 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday.

 

Mid-year applicants are added to the bottom of schools’ waitlists below lottery and post-lottery applicants with two exceptions:

  1. A student applies to their in-boundary school (grades K-12); and
  2. A student applies to a school that has open seats for mid-year entrants in that grade. To view open seats, click HERE

 

In these cases, the applicant will receive an automatic offer of enrollment and will have 48 hours (two business days) to accept the offer by enrolling at the school. Learn more about enrollment HERE.
